Highly transportable x lightweight

Our transport wheelchairs are ideal when the wheelchair user will be pushed by someone else. This can include events where it may be required after a long day, or for attending appointments, or travelling. It is the lightest wheelchair model available, and as such it is designed for portability, with a light weight, easy folding capability, and small size when folded. It easily stows into the trunk of a car, and is able to be set up and broken down in a matter of mere seconds. 

(For cases where the wheelchair user also needs the option to be able to propel themselves, we would recommend a Standard Wheelchair instead.)

Our transport wheelchairs come equipped with footrests as a standard option. Ask your friendly Mobility Rentals Representative about other accessories available on demand, such as cushions, etc.

We deliver to multiple locations in the GTA. Outside of Toronto, we can deliver transport chair rentals to Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Newmarket Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa. For most locations, next day delivery applies. Ask us about same day delivery, we will try our best to accommodate your needs!

When should you use a transport chair?

Use a transport chair when:

  • The wheelchair user will be pushed by someone else (mandatory)
  • You need a lightweight wheelchair that is easy to transport
  • You need a basic wheelchair for a "just in case" scenario
  • The wheelchair user is less than 300 pounds

Consider another wheelchair when:

  • The user needs to be able to move themself
  • There is no caregiver or attendant
  • The wheelchair will be used for more than basic transport
  • The wheelchair user has limited ability to shift their own weight

Wheelchair user measurements

It helps to know the width of the wheelchair users widest point. This is usually around the hip area. The reason you may want to know this is because the size of the wheelchair seat we may recommend will depend on the size of the wheelchair user. For the most part we have chairs available to fit a range of sizes.

User weight

Each wheelchair is designed to accommodate a specific amount of weight. While we do not need to know the wheelchair users exact weight, it will be helpful to you to know that most basic transport chairs have a weight limit of no more than 275 – 300 pounds. When a wheelchair user requires more support than the basic transport chair would provide, we would recommend looking at the bariatric transport chair. Bariatric transport chairs are designed to hold quite a bit more weight, and as a result can be used by a wider range of wheelchair users.

Select a wheelchair rental here on our website. You will be able to customize the length of you rental, as well as include any add-ons that you want to include.

2: Reserve it online

Complete your booking online. You can make a deposit and secure your wheelchair, all via our website. Your rental will be marked for you, reserved, and set aside.

3: We deliver to you

We will deliver your wheelchair to you at the pre-determined time. Complete a brief orientation with our rental representative, if needed. Enjoy your rental!

Yes. We follow a comprehensive sanitation regimen for each and every wheelchair we have available. In addition, our wheelchairs are regularly inspected to ensure that they remain mechanically fit.

Yes, your rental wheelchair can be delivered to you anywhere within Toronto and the surrounding municipalities. 

Our multi-point wheelchair servicing program ensures that all components of every chair are fully functional, before it is delivered to a client. This includes an inspection of wheelchair brakes, tires, life systems, battery, controls, casters, and more. Rest assured that your wheelchair rental has been properly prepared for its time with you.
