Wheelchair rental options

Introduction to our fleet

We have three main types of wheelchairs available for rent, as well as mobility scooters. Each product will excel in a specific use case; we are standing by to help you select the right product for your needs. Additionally, our wheelchair rentals are available in both paediatric and bariatric sizing, so we have mobility options to meet the needs of every body type.

Transport wheelchair

Transport wheelchairs are used when the wheelchair user has a caregiver to push the chair. They are known to be lightweight, and fold easily for transport in your car trunk or back seat. You can easily recognize a transport wheelchair by its wheels; it has smaller wheels, which means it cannot be propelled by the person sitting in it.

A transport chair is ideal for:

Manual wheelchair

Manual wheelchairs are a nice step up from the typical transport wheelchair. They have a bigger, more sturdy rear wheel, which tends to make the ride more comfortable. These same wheels are reachable by the wheelchair user, so you can move the wheelchair forward and back, turn corners left and right, and even do a 360 degree spin, all from controlling the wheels with your hands. Manual wheelchairs are ideal for wheelchair users who have a fair amount of upper body strength, so that they are able to move the wheelchair forward and backwards

Ideal for:

Power/ electric wheelchair

Power wheelchairs are battery powered wheelchairs, typically driven and steered by a joystick or other type of control. Power wheelchairs tend to have 4 or 6 wheels, with the two main wheels, called the “drive wheels” connected to power.  Power wheelchairs are ideal for users that do not have the upper body strength to self properly, but still want the independence of being able to move about without the assistance of an attendant.

Ideal for:

Mobility scooter

Mobility scooters are 3 or 4 wheeled scooters that provide convenient, battery powered alternative to walking or using a wheelchair. Users that have sufficient upper and lower body strength will be able to use a mobility scooter. It is considered an “active” device, in the sense that you’ll typically need both hands free to be able to steer the device.
